3) Wu chow- Holy soup dumplings! These little gems are heaven in your mouth... and no I’m not exaggerating, I could live off these. Wu Chow brings authentic, farm-fresh, modern Chinese food to the heart of downtown Austin. They offer dishes representative of all eight styles of Chinese cuisine, as well as dim sum service on Sundays. Everything on the menu is absolutely amazing, but the dumplings are a must!!! Introducing the one of a kind Shanghai Soup Dumplings: pork shoulder, ginger, garlic, scallions, concentrated pork broth, dipping sauce 10.... Not to mention they also have fun, festive drinks to match their personality!

4) Lucy’s fried chicken- This is a feel good, casual restaurant that has the best fried chicken in town!! There are 4 locations in Austin. I recommend the one on the lake at 2900 RANCH RD 620 NMAPAUSTIN TX 78734, which has a spectacular view. Get the bucket of chicken if you're with a group of 4 or more! It’s a great deal and a lot of food. The mac n cheese, corn, and mashed potatoes are tasty side dishes as well.

5) Buenos Aires – is a top of the line Argentinian restaurant. They “are committed to serving the highest quality food, prepared with love and care from the hands that make it.” Start off with some cheesy goodness, ordering provoleta as an appetizer. FYI they have a pretty cool speakeasy downstairs called the Milonga Room so grab some dinner upstairs and head downstairs for some creative cocktails at their speakeasy! 6) Lichas– this restaurant is on the east side of town where all the cool kids hang! Their happy house is killer. Their portions are of good size and you can be fully satisfied for $5 dollars…. That’s right a whopping $5 dollars for authentic, tasty Mexican food! They also have a large patio in the back which is great for a group gathering. Lichas offers a fun atmosphere and great food at an amazing price.... what more could you ask for?!

How to Winter-Proof Your Home/Apartment

You can’t prevent the foreseeable chilly winter, but you can always prepare. Here are the top 5 things you should look for to save money and keep you warm!

1) Frozen Pipes- are one of the biggest cold-weather culprits and are no fun to deal with. They can leave you not only with water damage but with a hefty bill (more than 5K to give you an estimate)!
To avoid a burst in a frozen pipe
- Be sure that outside faucets are not left on. Make sure both the outside faucets and the spigot are turned off! This will prevent the hose bib from freezing
- When it comes to indoor faucets it is smart to allow them to drip to release compression and keep water flowing in the pipes when the temperature drops. You can also leave your cabinet doors open below sinks and appliances to allow heat to circulate around pipes that are not insulated.
2) Dirty Air Filters- one way to avoid heater malfunctions is to make sure you're on top of changing the air filters. You should change your filter every 30-60 days. You can either buy replacements at the grocery store or ask your complex If they provide them.
3) Gaps in Windows- Stop cold gust of wind in their tracks by changing old weather-strips and using caulk to fill in cracks around the seam. This is an affordable, effective way to seal the openings keeping you nice and warm. *** Before doing so make sure to contact your landlord to ask if this is allowed/ if they will provide these services
4) Blocked Air Vent- Sometimes people do not think about where their air vent is when moving in, placing furniture in an area that blocks your heat source. A couch or any large piece of furniture will selfishly block and absorb the heat you need if placed directly under your vent.
5) Bare floors- An uninsulated floor can cause you to lose 10% of its heat source. A lot of hardwood floors lack insulation which allows the heat to seep out. Rugs can help with this issue, keeping your feet warm. You can also use thicker curtains that are darker in color. This will help trap the air inside and protect your house from harsh winter conditions
